MORGAN CREEK DEFEATS OAK BROOK IN "CHICAGO POLO CUP" CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

It was a perfect day for polo on Sunday, July 30th as hundreds of spectators came out to Prince of Wales Field to witness the championship match between Oak Brook Polo Club and Morgan Creek in the annual “Chicago Polo Cup.” Aside from having not played at Oak Brook in a few years, Morgan Creek defeated the home team 9-8 in an exciting and close match.
Oak Brook Polo Club’s Team was captained by Chicago business leader Jim Drury (#4, Hcap A) and included Tomas “Toto” Obregon (#1, Hcap 4), Mariano Gutierrez (#2, Hcap 4), Horacio Onetto (#3, Hcap 4). The Morgan Creek team was comprised of Chris Vangel (#1, Hcap 2), Dean Kleronomos (#2, Hcap 2), Delmer Walton (#3, Hcap 3), Lindor Novillo Corvalan (#4, Hcap 4). Jack Murphy and Todd Rackley served as the two officiating umpires.The “Chicago Polo Cup” is a signature polo tournament that represents the rebirth of Chicago's history in hosting rival polo teams from around Chicagoland and the Midwest, such as Milwaukee, Detroit, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Iowa, Indianapolis and many more.
