Summer is almost over and we are gearing up for the 2018 - 2019 Winter Season at Empire Polo Club. We have a lot of exciting news to share with our Members. Memo Gracida will be joining our team as the Polo Director. He will be working with Vicky Owens and Kevin Ittig in our Polo Department. More details are included in the links below.
We are excited to announce the 2018-2019 Season Schedule at Empire Polo Club. The first Sunday Polo event is scheduled as a "soft opening" on Dec. 30th. Opening Day & Hat Day is scheduled for January, 6th, 2019. Polo will continue though March 31st. Please note that there is no polo on Sunday, Jan. 20th and Sunday March 3rd.
Friday night "Polo Under the Lights" dates and times will be announced once the season gets underway. Friday games are played on select dates in February and March.
The schedule includes some pre-season tournaments, including two indoor (arena) polo tournaments at our new polo facility called Calhoun Ranch. Calhoun Ranch offers Empire Playing Members additional stabling, grass pastures for turnout a new grass polo field and an indoor polo arena, with plans for a second arena in the works. We will post more details about these early games in November.
League Updates ...
The 4-Goal League is 5-Chukkers in Jan. & Feb. and will drop to 4-Chukkers in March. The 8-Goal League gets underway in Feb. and will be 6-Chukkers all season. The Debii $$ Women's Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 13th-15th and will be played at Empire Polo Club. 1-Goal Tournaments are played every weekend, except for the dates Jan. 19th & 20th and March 2nd & 3rd. Memo Gracida Joins Empire Polo Club as Polo Director
Empire Polo Club is excited to announce that legendary polo player Memo Gracida will join the staff as Polo Director. Memo will work with Vicky Owens, Empire’s Polo Manager, to help recruit teams and players. He will also be working closely with Kevin Ittig, who oversees Empire’s Grounds Crew, to ensure that the fields are in prime condition for the winter season.
