That dream that began to be polished in the South American qualifiers, commanded by Daniel González, came to the great goal of the hand of "Topo" Diego Braun: Argentina on Sunday 29/10 its 5th. World title, when winning the 11th FIP World Cup of 14 goals that was played at the Sidney Polo Club, located in Richmond, Australia, after defeating the defending champion, Chile, by an adjusted 8-7, in additional chukker, with goal of Lucio Fernández Ocampo.
Argentina gave a goal of advantage for its greater valorisation as a whole because, as in the whole event, it was authorized to play with 15 goals, since it disputed the tournament with the same team that achieved the pass to the World Cup. There, Tomás Panelo had 2 goals, but was later promoted to 3.
The match was extremely even from beginning to end, with Argentina recovering, in the first chukker, the goal of advantage that had yielded and then, goal to goal with successive draws.
The trans-Andean team scored a goal with 30 seconds left until the end of the match, but Argentina equalized on the final, to take the match to supplementary, where Lucio Fernández Ocampo (finally elected MVP) appeared, who in a great race dressed as a hero to give him the title to the national team ... Aquel sueño que comenzó a pulirse en las eliminatorias sudamericanas, comandado por Daniel González, llegó al gran objetivo de la mano del “Topo” Diego Braun: Argentina logró el domingo 29/10 su 5to. Título del mundo, al adjudicarse el XI Mundial FIP de 14 goles que se disputó en el Sidney Polo Club, ubicado en Richmond, Australia, luego de vencer al campeón defensor, Chile, por un ajustado 8-7, en chukker suplementario, con gol de oro de Lucio Fernández Ocampo.
Argentina dio un gol de ventaja por su mayor valorización de conjunto porque, como en todo el certamen, fue autorizado a jugar con 15 goles, ya que disputó el torneo con el mismo equipo que logró el pase al mundial. Allí, Tomás Panelo tenía 2 goles, pero luego fue ascendido a 3.
El partido fue extremadamente parejo de principio a fin, con Argentina recuperando, en el primer chukker, el gol de ventaja que había cedido y luego, gol a gol con empates sucesivos.
El conjunto trasandino convirtió un golazo faltando 30 segundos para el final del partido, pero Argentina igualó sobre el final, para llevar el encuentro a suplementario, donde apareció Lucio Fernández Ocampo (finalmente elegido MVP), que en gran corrida se vistió de héroe para darle el título a la selección nacional… ¡Vamos Argentina!
En tanto, el tercer puesto del torneo fue para Inglaterra, que derrotó por un ajustado 6-5 a Estados Unidos.
