The United States Polo Association together with the Oak Brook Polo Cub in Oak Brook, Illinois, is pleased to announce the 40thAnniversary U.S. Open Polo Championship® Alumni Match to be held during the USPA Board of Governors and Annual Member Meetings September 19-22.   The hosting of the 2018 USPA Board of Governors and Annual Member Meetings corresponds with Oak Brook Polo Club’s 40thAnniversary since the last U.S. Open Polo Championship® was held in in 1978 between teams Abercrombie & Kent and Tulsa. The Oak Brook Polo Club was home to U.S. Open Polo Championship® for over two decades from 1954 to 1978, making it the home of elite professional polo in the United States. In those 22 years, the Oak Brook Polo Club won six U.S. Opens (1960, ’64, ’65, ’67, ’71 and ’73).  In honor of this history, the Oak Brook Polo Club in coordination with the USPA, will host a U.S. Open Polo Championship®Alumni Match on Sunday, September 23, at 3:00pm ET on Oak Brook Polo’s Prince of Wales Field located at 2606 York Road in Oak Brook, Illinois, to close out the 2018 season. Adding to the history of the event, teams will be wearing throwback jerseys from the memorable final in 1978. U.S. Open Polo Championship® Alumni Match 15-goal Rosters

The USPA Board of Governors and Annual Member Meetings will be held at the Hyatt Lodge on McDonald’s Corporate Campus in Oak Brook, Illinois. The USPA Fall Meetings are one of two annual meetings held each year. The USPA Spring Meetings are held in Wellington, Florida, prior to the U.S. Open Polo Championship® every April, while the USPA Fall Meetings are held in different polo communities throughout the United States. Considered to be the most prestigious polo tournament in the United States, the U.S. Open is the apex of the 22-goal tournaments now held during the Florida high-goal winter polo season that attracts fans and polo enthusiasts from across the United States and around the world. The 2019 tournament is projected to feature 16-20 teams and will award $250,000 in prize money to the champion.
