Mounting Up! Here is the 2014 Press Release explaining the re-shuffle and new look event

A New Life for Polo on Snow
St. Moritz

St. Moritz, 26 May 2014. The St. Moritz polo tournament on snow has a new backing and
a new name: the traditional tournament on the frozen lake of St. Moritz and well-known
worldwide will henceforth be called «Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz». It will be
backed by new investors and organised by a new operational team consisting mainly of
people from the St. Moritz area.
The uncertainty about the future of the St. Moritz polo tournament on snow has come to an
end: A team around Reto Gaudenzi –the man from St. Moritz who once launched the
tournament and went on to manage it for twelve years –  will be organising the Snow Polo
World Cup St. Moritz as of next winter.
Well-known personalities from the Swiss polo circle are supporting the new tournament’s
organisation: Piero Dillier, Thomas Rinderknecht, Werner Meier and Andy Küchel have
founded the Evviva St. Moritz Polo Ltd together with Reto Gaudenzi.
Polo enthusiasts from around the world were invited to subscribe for the shares.
The offer appealed greatly to both national and international investors and the demand exceeded the offer.
The promoters have begun work on the project. Talks with potential main sponsors look
promising and the city of St. Moritz has expressed its consent that the new organisers hold the
tournament as of 2015. The first Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz will thus take place from January 30th through February 1st 2015.
Back to the roots
The winter polo tournament in St. Moritz is of particular significance: polo on snow was
invented here more than 30 years ago. Since its early days, St. Moritz has been the best polo
on snow tournament in the world. The uncertainty about the future of this top event both in
sportive and social terms bothered us greatly», explains the promoter Reto Gaudenzi. «Polo
enthusiasts around the world have encouraged us to take over the St. Moritz tournament again
and lead it into a secure future.
To ensure a longterm future for the Snow Polo World Cup St. Moritz, it must be solidly
financed, renowned in sports and social circles and supported by the local community and by
the valley’s tourist industry. A new, very lean management structure, that, as in the early
days, reunites more experts from the St. Moritz area, will help the tournament find a new
foothold in the valley and among the local volunteers.
